New Category - Best Edible Garden

Aug 9, 2010

A brand new category in this year's Western Star | Plantaroma Garden Competition is the Best Edible Garden sponsored by Roma Community Gardens.  No garden is too big or too small!

So make sure you enter your edible garden by 12 noon Monday 8 September and go in the competition to win a $100 gift voucher.  This category - Class 13 - Edible Garden is a garden or section of garden planted with vegetables, herbs or fruit trees.  It will be judged on the amount and quality of fruit/vegetables and the variety produced.  Special recognition will be given to uncommon or self cultivated varieties and the use of environmentally friendly and organic garden practices will be viewed favourably.

This year, Special Guest Judge is Ross McKinnon who is the Curator-in-Charge of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at suburban Mt Coot-tha, internationally regarded as amongst the world's leading sub-tropical Botanic Gardens and Brisbane's second largest tourist attraction featuring significant plant collections including the world's largest representative collection of Australian native rainforest trees.

Judging will take place on 10 & 11 September 2011.

To enter your garden, make sure you pick up an entry form from the Western Star office, McDowall Street, Roma.

For further information on this category please contact Natasha, Volunteer Co-ordinator, Roma Community Gardens on 0432 984 977.
